Sri. Amba Bhavani temple in Sira, Tumukr District is the Kula devata of Lad community. The famous temple of Tuljapur popularly called Khandoba, Tirupati Tirumala and Seebi Narasimha temple are a few important pilgrim places and gods worshipped by the community.
The traditional profession of the Laad Community is commerce and trade. The community is scattered all over India, and are originally from ‘Laat Desh‘ in South Gujarat. The dialect spoken by the community is called Chaurasi and is a mixture of Gujarati, Rajasthani and Marathi. In Karnataka, the community is settled in Bangalore, Mysore, Srirangapatna, Sira, Ganjam, Dharwad, Hubli, Bijapur, Gulburga and Belagur, with small numbers in Savanur, Chitradurga, Shimoga and NR Pur. In 2005, an analysis of the grammar and structure of the Chaurasi language by JP Narayan Laad was published by the Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore. The Laad community is also mentioned in the memoirs of Francis Buchanan who toured Mysore State after the fall of Tippu Sultan in 1799.[8
The Lad society has plans for the development of Lad bandhus. The education system and awareness has drastically increased in the years. The Lads have also ventured into politics to leave a mark of progress and the undisputed kings with excellent management skills. The assembly elections that would be held this 2018 can see Sri, Anil Lad former M.P. , Santosh lad, sitting M.L.A. of Kalaghatagi-581204, Dharwad and Sri. Raghavendra Lad s/o Late Jayaprakash Narayan Lad contesting from Turuvekere Taluk, Tumkur District as M.L.A candidate.

The Lad utsav would be held every year during the year Jan-Feb the devotees and lad bandhus gather and perform Homa, Pooja and Procession of Maa Amba Bhavani at Ladpura, Sira. The Lad bandhus gather and discuss the development of economic-socio situation of the Lad families. The Lads are in various parts of India and abroad the sub communities like Brahmin Lads, Yeligar, Sugandhi, Rahut, Chaurasi and many other sub-sects.
The books and writing materials to the supporting families and exceptional talented would be held every year in the month of May. The students and Lad bandhus please contact the administrator two months prior to avail the facility.
